LAUREN FERRARA
FOUNDER and chief storyteller
Lauren Ferrara is an Emmy-nominated journalist and former TV anchor who’s chased stories from the neon lights of Las Vegas to the red carpets of Nashville. She’s interviewed trafficking survivors, wrongly convicted men walking free, country music stars—and launched a series on everyday women doing extraordinary things. That concept caught fire, and her station group expanded it to more than 200 TV stations across the country. Her work has aired on FOX News, CNN, and even The Colbert Report.
In West Texas, her reporting helped expose cracks in a murder conviction—coverage that defense attorneys say played a key role in overturning the case and freeing two men after a decade behind bars. Later, in Las Vegas, her curiosity led her to wonder about the lesser-known figures in headline cases, securing her an exclusive prison interview with C.J. Stewart, O.J. Simpson's co-defendant in the 2007 armed robbery case. Stewart's conviction was later overturned, with the Nevada Supreme Court citing the prejudicial impact of being tried alongside Simpson. She also spent years reporting on human trafficking in Texas, Nashville, and Las Vegas—giving voice to survivors and shedding light on the dark realities hidden in plain sight.
After nearly 15 years in front of the camera, Lauren stepped behind it to launch Why Wait Stories, a legacy film company that helps families and founders capture the stories that matter most. With her signature mix of heart, humor, and journalistic instinct, she now creates powerful documentary-style films for people who want to preserve their past and inspire the future.
A Rice University grad and former collegiate runner, Lauren is a lifelong traveler who’s lived abroad in Argentina and Ireland—and now part-time worldschools with her two daughters in places like Oaxaca City, Mexico and Guatemala (so far). She’s always on the hunt for the next adventure and believes everyone has a story worth telling.
